Are you aging enough?

Ageing starts from the feet up! KEEP YOUR LEGS Strong!!

As we age, our legs must always be kept strong.

▪️When we grow old, we should not be concerned that our hair is turning grey or our skin is sagging or getting wrinkled.

▪️Among the signs of longevity, as summarised by the US Magazine "Prevention", strong leg muscles are listed as the most important and essential parts of our body.

▪️If you do not move your legs for two weeks, your leg strength will decrease by 10 years.

▪️A study from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark found that among both old and young people, during two weeks of inactivity, the strength in the leg muscles became weakened so much that their body capability was reduced to the equivalent of 20-30 years of ageing.

▪️As our leg muscles weaken due to prolonged inactivity, it will take a long period of exercising and rehabilitation in order for the strength to be restored in our legs.

▪️Therefore, regular exercise like walking, is very important.

▪️The whole body weight/load rests on our two legs.

▪️The feet are the foundations that bear the entire weight of the human body.

▪️Interestingly, 50% of a person's bones and muscles are found in the two legs.

▪️The largest and strongest joints and bones of the human body are also in the legs.

▪️Strong bones, strong muscles, and flexible joints form the "Iron Triangle" that carry the most important load on the human body.

▪️70% of human activity and burning of energy in one's life is done by our legs.

▪️Did you know that when a person is young, their thighs have enough strength in them to lift a small car?

▪️The feet are the centres of body locomotion.

▪️Both legs have 50% of the nerves of the human body, 50% of the blood vessels and 50% of the blood flowing through them.

▪️It is the large circulatory network that connects the body.

▪️Only when our feet and legs are healthy, the blood would flow smoothly throughout our body, thus giving us good health.

▪️Aging starts from the feet upwards.

▪️As a person gets older, the accuracy and speed of transmission of instructions between the brain and the legs decreases, unlike when a person is young.

▪️In addition, the so-called Bone Fertiliser Calcium will sooner or later be lost with the passage of time, making the elderly more prone to bone fractures.

▪️Bone fractures in the elderly can easily trigger a series of complications, especially fatal diseases such as brain thrombosis.

▪️Did you know that 15% of elderly patients will die within a year of a thigh-bone fracture?

▪️It is never too late to start exercising our legs, even after the age of 60.

▪️Although our feet/legs will gradually age with time, exercising them is a life-long task.

▪️Only by strengthening our legs, can we prevent further ageing.

▪️Please walk for at least 30-40 minutes daily to ensure that your legs receive sufficient exercise and to ensure that your leg muscles remain healthy.

Please share this with elderly friends and family members.
